2026 Debutante Leadership Program

The Debutante Leadership Program (Cotillion) provides experiences that prepare the debutantes for leadership with a focus on the African American community. During the twelve-month journey, the debutantes will participate in educational, cultural, social and community services activities.

For more than two decades, the Essex County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, has, through its Emerald and Ivory Debutante Cotillion, created a special place where outstanding young women in our community learn to lead with Excellence and serve with Grace.

The Cotillion is a spectacular evening where guests honor the debutantes' introduction into society, dine and dance and acknowledge their extraordinary achievements. Proceeds from the Cotillion provide scholarships for the debutantes and support Essex County (NJ) Chapter's award winning community service programs.

Serving as an escort in the 2026 Cotillion of the The Links, Incorporated hosted by the Essex County (NJ) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is an opportunity for young men to take part in a distinguished tradition that celebrates leadership, character, and excellence. Selected escorts are recognized as responsible and respectful young men who are willing to step forward in a visible leadership role while supporting their assigned debutante throughout the season. From the first orientation to the final presentation at the formal Cotillion, escorts become part of a cohort of motivated peers, building confidence, camaraderie, and social polish while participating in a meaningful community tradition.

Throughout the fall, escorts commit to weekly dance rehearsals from September through December, learning the classic steps and etiquette that culminate in a memorable formal Cotillion presentation. The experience offers more than dance instruction. It builds discipline, teamwork, and confidence while giving participants the chance to form friendships, develop poise, and represent themselves and their families with pride. For high school sophomores and juniors seeking a unique leadership experience that blends tradition, service, and celebration, serving as a Cotillion escort is both an honor and a memorable milestone in their high school years.
